About

Daniyar Yessimkhanov, a dedicated and accomplished pianist, currently studies and serves as a Teaching and Accompanying Assistant at the prestigious Penn State School of Music since 2021. In this role, he has demonstrated his passion for music education by imparting his knowledge in Class Piano and applied Piano lessons. Additionally, his contributions extend to accompanying choirs and the Opera Studio, showcasing his versatility and collaborative spirit.

Prior to his study at Penn State, Daniyar Yessimkhanov held the position of Piano Faculty Member at the Kazakh National University of Arts in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 2010 to 2021. During this period, he provided expert instruction in Piano and chamber music, guiding students to success in international piano and chamber music competitions in Kazakhstan and Russia.

Currently a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) Candidate at Penn State School of Music, Daniyar Yessimkhanov is pursuing his degree in Piano Performance under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Timothy Shafer, with an expected graduation date in 2024. His commitment to excellence in music is further evidenced by the completion of Teaching, Artistic, and Concert Soloist Diplomas from the University of Music, Drama, and Media in Hanover, Germany, where he studied under the tutelage of Professor Vladimir Krainev and graduated in 2010.

Daniyar Yessimkhanov began his musical journey at the Special Music School for Gifted Children in Almaty, Kazakhstan, where he received specialized training in music. His exceptional talent has been recognized through numerous achievements, including winning top honors in international piano competitions such as the 2nd Seiler International Piano Competition in Rethymno, Greece, where he clinched the 1st Prize, and the 4th USASU Bösendorfer International Piano Competition in Tempe, AZ, where he secured the 2nd Prize.

Beyond the competition stage, Daniyar Yessimkhanov has graced audiences with his artistry through numerous recitals and concerts. His performances have spanned continents, enchanting listeners in Kazakhstan, Europe, Africa, and the USA. Notable venues include Salle Cortot in Paris, Konzerthaus in Berlin, and the Royal Festival Hall in London.

Teaching Philosophy

The foundation of my teaching approach rests upon the amalgamation of the finest traditions from three of the world's most renowned piano schools: the Russian, German, and American. This synthesis allows me to offer students a comprehensive and versatile musical education that draws from the strengths of each tradition. My commitment to placing artistic content at the forefront of education, coupled with strong analytical techniques, has not only enriched the musical journeys of countless students but has also contributed to the success of numerous prize winners in international piano and chamber music competitions.
